Manchester Downtown Enhancement in conjunction with the MDOT M-52 Project

With the Michigan Department of Transportation M-52 project through the Village now on starting in late 2011 and continuing through 2012, the design of the Downtown Enhancement is basically complete. Only a few details need updating from the 2009 drawings. Additionally, the streetlighting  is being re-evaluated relative to recent advances in LED technology.
The historical concept for the Downtown Enhancement design is based on a 1930's Manchester streetscape, when the current bridge, paved streets, automobile traffic, and electric streetlighting were all present.
Funding for the Downtown Enhancement is largely from the Federal Tranportation Enhancement program, supplemented by MDOT and local funding.

Combined Use Walking and Bicycle Trail

A combined use Walking and Bicycling Trail through the Village along the old Michigan Central Railroad right-of-way is currently being investigated. The concept was presented to the Village Council in December. Design, funding, and approvals are currently being pursued.
